Q: Help - Why can't I update to OS X Yosemite?

I have a late 2007 13"  MacBook  It has Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 and I have 1 TB of memory but the App store will not allow me to update my OS X to the new Yosemite, even though it meets the necessary criteria to update.

I also cannot use my USB ports for anything except to add music to my iPod.

Can some one help with either of these?? Mainly the reason why I can't update my system to OS X Yosemite?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.5), System is OS X Lion 10.7.5

    Upgrading to Yosemite

You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.

    Upgrading to Yosemite

To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

         Are my applications compatible?

See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

As you can see above your MacBook does not meet the requirements for upgrading to any version of OS X above the version you now have installed.
