Aug 21, 2015 2:54 PM in response to Keith Weissharby Jacumba,It's probably still showing QuickTime 7.7.6 because Apple didn't update their webpage. QT 7.7.7 came as an update and is working with Windows 10, where did you see QT version 7.7.8? The best I could tell is 7.7.7 is the latest version for Windows.

Aug 21, 2015 6:09 PM in response to Jacumbaby Keith Weisshar,http://www.quicktime.com. Sometimes when I reload this page with F5 it shows up as either 7.7.8 or 7.7.6 at random.

Aug 23, 2015 4:22 PM in response to Keith Weissharby Jacumba,OK good link, it is showing QuickTime 7.7.8. I'll try and run it and see what I come up with on Windows 10

Aug 23, 2015 5:00 PM in response to Jacumbaby Jacumba,Getting the same message when trying to run that installer with Windows 10. So apparently there's not an installer for Windows 10? I installed Windows 10 on top of QuickTime 7.7.7 so that is working, and not familiar enough yet with 10 to know if Apple has an installer for 10 or will?

Aug 27, 2015 12:42 AM in response to Jacumbaby jjj4444,I have the same problem, not being able to upgrade to version 7.7.8 from 7.7.7.
I cannot uninstall version 7.7.7 as well. I get this error message
The text is in Danish and says something like this: An unexpected error has occured during installation of this package. It can indicate, that there is a problem with this package. The error code is 2229.
I'm using Windows 10, which has been upgraded from 7 -> 8 -> 8.1 -> 10

Aug 27, 2015 6:51 PM in response to jjj4444by Jacumba,Based on Apple's website the installer for QuickTime 7.7.8 is for Windows - Vista or Windows 7 only. So Apple right now doesn't have a QuickTime installer for Windows 10. I upgraded a Windows 7 computer to Windows 10 without reformatting the hard drive. Because Microsoft sent me Windows 10 online. The Windows 7 computer already had QuickTime 7.7.7 installed when I upgraded to Windows 10, and QT is working fine, so it's compatible with Windows 10.
I don't know if Apple will have a installer for Windows 10, where browsers seem to be doing away with plug-ins or so they say. I've seen online where some websites are showing a QT installer for Windows 10. That would be risky getting a QT installer not from Apple, you don't know what's included in the installer.

Aug 28, 2015 2:29 PM in response to Keith Weissharby NannaLesley,Same issue here - I use Patch My PC Updater software and it keeps warning me that my Quicktime is not current (7.77 installed, 7.78 available). But like you when I go to the Quicktime update page & download the update, I then get a message that the 7.78 is only for Windows 7 / Vista users. Perplexed and hoping someone from Apple clues us Windows 10 users in soon .....

Aug 30, 2015 4:45 AM in response to Keith Weissharby tns42,Apple needs to fix this.
A solution that works was posted at http://tommynation.com/install-quicktime-windows-10/ . Option 2 is needed for 7.7.8. Essentially he modified the check in the install package to accept windows 10.

Aug 30, 2015 5:20 AM in response to tns42by RicardoGusmao,I downloaded this installer and seems that it has a vulnerability (Exploit.gen).

Aug 30, 2015 7:12 AM in response to RicardoGusmaoby tns42,This is the reason I recommended his alternate 2 (for me alternate 1 didn't work). Download the official 7.7.8 from APPLE. Unzip it apply using the msinstaller and his small fix file.
