Q: Blocking a phone number

I think my boyfriend might have blocked my number but I'm not sure. When I call him it rings once then goes to voicemail but other times when I call him it rings like normal and then goes to voicemail. If he blocked my number with the iPhone feature wouldn't it always ring once and go to voicemail everytime I call him?? I believe my boyfriend has IOS7 if I'm not mistaken and I have a Samsung note 4. Not sure who his carrier is but mine is Sprint if that makes a difference. Him and I have had issues receiving texts from each other before as well. Everytime he's sent me a picture it either takes a few days for me to receive it or I will get it right away but it shows up randomly in the previoys days texts messages and I have to go searching for it so idk if one of our phones is gaving issues or if he really did block my number. Can anyone give me an idea about whats going on?

If the messages are eventually going through, (you see his texts and he sees yours the number isn't blocked). If he blocked you, you wouldn't be receiving any texts from him. Since you don't have an apple iPhone, I don't have any ideas, but I would contact your carrier and find out the cause for the delay in message delivery.  When the phone rings once on your end and then goes straight to voicemail, he may be using a feature called do not disturb: Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

So if he specifically blocked my number with the iphone feature, wouldn't it always ring once and go to voicemail? Because it doesn't always ring once and go to voicemail. Are there any known issues with the iPhone call blocking feature where it still lets calls thru sometimes when blocked numbers try calling? He doesn't like talking on the phone because we're both young and find it awkward. Ive only been able to get him to talk on the phone a few times.

I haven't heard of any issues where blocked numbers can still call. If you are blocked, you should be brought to voicemail every time you call, unless he is blocking and unblocking you for some reason. If your worried about it, I would ask him directly in person.  -AJ

Okay and is my understanding correct that when someone uses the iPhone feature or go thru their carrier to block your number, when you call it will either ring once and go to voicemail or it will give you a message saying that this person is not receiving calls at this time right? And I would try to contact him another way but he doesn't have a facebook that I know of so the phone is our only form of communication.

If the phone rings once and then your call goes to voice mail, it may mean his phone is off or set to Do Not Disturb. When it is on or not set to DND, it would ring normally. Or, on the times it rings once and goes to voicemail. he's sending your call to voicemail intentionally. On an iPhone you do that by double tapping the Home button when a call comes in. The only way to really know is to ask him.

Based on the rest of your post, one or both of you may be having network/carrier issues.

As far as the texting issue goes, it only happens with his number so I'm thinking if it is a carrier issue, its probably on his side.
