Q: Why can't I print from MacBook to Xerox WorkCentre 6015?

In my household, we have many MacBooks. I was able to add our printer to my personal 2011 MacBook Pro (with Yosemite) and I can print just fine from it. However, I tried setting up the printer on my sister's 2012 MacBook air, my cousin's brand new MacBook Pro, and my brand new work MacBook Pro, and none will print. It shows me the printer dialogue box and says that it's sending the task to the printer and then the task goes away, as it does with a successful print. But nothing ever actually prints. What is going on? I tried setting up the printer automatically as well as manually with the IP address and nothing works.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

    Select

              /var/log cups error_log

from the hierarchical list on the left side of the Console window. If you don't see that list, select

              View Show Log List

    from the menu bar.

Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last failed printing attempt. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Hope this is what you're looking for. I get this message every time I try to print from those MacBooks other than my own personal one.

That printer is not on the list of models supported in Yosemite:

Printer and scanner software available for download for your Mac - Apple Support

There may not be any way to make it work, but you can try the suggestion in this thread:

It's just strange that I made it work on one MacBook Pro, but it doesn't work on any of the others.
