Aug 23, 2015 8:25 PM in response to veitchkby veitchk,so the bootcamp assistant downloaded software from apple i assume to run windows and then at the very end of that process and before partition set up it said this model/version of macbook does not support windows 7.1......
why would that be, no windows person out there is ready to drop windows 7 in favour of products that are still having teething problems across the globe.

Aug 23, 2015 8:48 PM in response to Loner Tby veitchk,Yeah so basically my macbook 2015 early release does not support windows 7 per their forum tables.
it would seem i am forced to go a newer version of windows which does scare me lots but there is no apparent alternative but to pick an appropriate version. given 8.1 does carry an auto upgrade path to win 10 - hanging out for spy to be released before i go there and also my other sw suppliers to catch up. so i think it will have to be 8.1.
anyone care to disagree or shed warning?

Aug 26, 2015 8:03 PM in response to veitchkby veitchk, for the benefit of the community - my 2015 early release no longer supports windows 7.1 so I successfully managed to set up with windows 8.1.... my only issue now may have been a poor choice of partition sizing. see my next question.
