Aug 19, 2015 12:40 PM in response to dgfromcpkby cameramike,Is terrible! I have thousands of photos - this new app is terrible... have sync problems overtime connect a different device - I repair and unlock phone and use to be able to help people with problems - now I spend more time trying to work around program errors and omissions. Why take away functions! What to do???

Aug 19, 2015 12:57 PM in response to cameramikeby babowa,iPhoto should still be in your Applications folder. There is no requirement to use Photos if you don't like it.

Aug 19, 2015 2:45 PM in response to eugen lucianby babowa,Well, since empezar translates to 'begin', I would assume it is waiting for you to begin installing it and/or begin using it. If you do not want to do that, can you quit it? That would be Command + Q.

Aug 23, 2015 8:33 PM in response to pjbuk007by gardengirl555,Well said!
I want THE Program I paid for- not the new mess of "Photos" that has been forced upon me. -
Aug 23, 2015 8:38 PM in response to dgfromcpkby gardengirl555,My IPhoto Events folder now holds all my previous photo groupings. They are still named in this folder, but do not show up in date order. They are not even in alphabetical order.
AND the groupings in new Photos are listed by date or location, not by the name I had on them- the old titles of the groupings are no longer listed at the top.
So to find a grouping of photos I am looking for, I have to select random names from the "IPhoto Events" folder, and wait for the spinning ball to pop up a set of pictures, and I can see if I found the right one.
PLEASE restore my photos into the way I had them organized on IPhoto!!
You cannot understand how this has wasted my time and is affecting my ability to perform my job with my clients.
The new Photos is cumbersome and slow.
After 1.5 hours spent tonight with a genius trying to fix my issues, I'll have to go back again...to see if there is any way to get my albums back to the way I had them.
I too, HATE "PHOTOS". -
Aug 23, 2015 8:45 PM in response to gardengirl555by LarryHN,Try calming down and starting a new thread rather than posting it this thread of crazy RANTers - Nothing has been forced on anyone and the iPhoto you paid for works just fine if you are up to date (version 9.6.1) if you do not keep your software up to date then see Can't Update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store
For more information start the new thread with calm, clear specifics about your issue

Aug 24, 2015 12:32 AM in response to dgfromcpkby nicbarker,Yes, I hate it as well - lots to love about Macs but not this. I've posted before about how frustrating the "upgrade" to photos was, especially for those who, like me, didn't have much of an issue with iPhoto.
I was told by support on here that I could continue to use iPhoto but thats not the case. After hours of chat support from someone in the UK I was assured that my photo libraries were intact and could be used in iPhoto and Photo. Not so. The first time I tried to do that I got an error message saying I could only view stuff in the iPhoto library, not edit it any more. Useless.I might not be so irritated - even though the photos now have to be completely reorganised which will take days or weeks which I can't spare - if only Photos worked but it doesn't even open and import new photos properly. Its utterly useless and incredibly frustrating and I wish it had never been added - or at least that we had been given an option to refuse it. The incredible arrogance of imposing it whether I wanted it or not, and effectively making my job much harder than it needs to be, seems a typically Apple attitude and TBH its something I am massively unimpressed with.

Not sure where you got that message, but you are the only person who has. What everyone else gets is that you can continue to use iPhoto but that work you do won't be available in the newer app.
SO nothing is "imposed". There is no arrogance. You can continue to use iPhoto or switch to any other app you prefer.

Aug 24, 2015 1:21 AM in response to nicbarkerby Terence Devlin,What does? That nothing is forced on you? That you still have complete choice over what app you use? That you don't read messages?

Aug 24, 2015 1:37 AM in response to Terence Devlinby nicbarker,You must work for Apple!
I have a Mac because it was supposed to make my work faster and easier, not because it is my recreation or hobby. The Photo software does neither - in fact it doesn't even import photos properly, which is why it irritates me.
The installation was not something I asked for and now it runs as a default programme. I have found ways to avoid it and stop the chaos it caused but that took quite a few hours and a lot of hassle.
Not quite sure why you are so determined to insist that there is nothing wrong with it? There seem to be a lot of others, just as fallible as me, who are struggling as well.

Aug 24, 2015 1:53 AM in response to nicbarkerby K Shaffer,The unpolished and apparent direction the newer software has taken, seems to be indicative
of the rest of these new developments where you cannot go forward from anything done well
in the past, as a bridge into the future. New on-the-job trainees could produce the kinds of
effects we've been seeing in these unusually un-Apple software 'upgrade' issues. Are they?
The unsuspecting should be forewarned, to not give up their old computer, or device, and if
they want to upgrade to a newer system, get a new device configuration with that included.
I've not totally migrated, and still rely mostly on PPC system configurations from pre- 10.6.
Some users of Mavericks who bought a new-old-stock clearance product from Apple online,
find the included iPhoto is not considered a 'Purchase' in the App Store. It was offered ever
so briefly along with Yosemite as an upgrade, so those who were ready to install all of that
over their Mavericks, could have upgraded past 10.9.5 and received 10.10.x with iPhoto.
The upgrade option vaporized without any formal or informal announcement, so those who
failed to upgrade to Yosemite before April 2015 could not get that version iPhoto upgrade.
With a dual internal hard drive system, factory, I'd hoped to set up a second OS X on the other
HDD; and not use a clone of the Mavericks, to have a clean and full upgrade of all the included
Apps (from April, iPhoto is missing from that list) so as to see how Yosemite worked. I did not
get requested information from any expert about how to be sure the upgrade would end up in
the second HDD and not contaminate the first as-shipped OS X. + I have a clearance special...
This, my first new hardware upgrade in more than 10 years. Another case of buyer remorse;
and that is unacceptable to me, since I usually have keen sense of 'pre-buyer remorse' and
avoid these kinds of mistakes early on. My 'best inner voice' has been proven right, again...!
And I know I could've done better than spend $1K on a headless horseman quad Mini.

Aug 24, 2015 4:17 AM in response to nicbarkerby Terence Devlin,No I don't work for Apple, nor do I even own any shares in Apple. I have no benefit at all. But when I see claptrap posted I do try and correct it for the benefit of other folks who might be damaged by it.
I have a Mac because it was supposed to make my work faster and easier, not because it is my recreation or hobby. The Photo software does neither - in fact it doesn't even import photos properly, which is why it irritates me.
So, what does a grown up do in that situation? They continue using iPhoto - (but of course you misread that simple message) or they use some other app that works the way they prefer.
The installation was not something I asked for and now it runs as a default programme. I have found ways to avoid it and stop the chaos it caused but that took quite a few hours and a lot of hassle.
It's not even a 'default' program. Don't launch it and it does nothing.
Not quite sure why you are so determined to insist that there is nothing wrong with it? There seem to be a lot of others, just as fallible as me, who are struggling as well.
Read my posts in this very thread. All I'm doing is trying to curb the disinformation you're spreading for the sake of other users.
