It sounds like you have the same Apple ID on both phones. Apple IDs are intended to be used by one user on multiple devices. With the new Continuity features being added by Apple, we recommended creating a new Apple ID for your son or yourself. With Family Sharing, you'll still be able to share apps, music, and other services.

In the short term, here are some ways to keep from syncing your info:
Calls - Go to Settings > Facetime, set Cellular Calls to Off
iMessage - Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, and uncheck the wrong phone number if it's listed there. Or turn off iMessage on one of the phones
Photos - Turn off iCloud on one of the phones
But as you can see, it would be easier to create a new Apple ID.
