Q: Upgraded to OS 10.10.5 over the weekend and now my WiFi connection seems to drop frequently.

The title says it all.  Upgraded the OS and spent most of the weekend switching WIFi off/on, etc. because the signal drops after a few minutes.   Is this a coincidence or is there a problem with the upgrade?  I've done all the usual fixes, moved closer to the router, rebooted, turned Safari off/on, etc. but still the same dropped WIFi.

Might be corrupted network preferences. It can happen after an upgrade.

Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy paste the following:

    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

Click Go then move all the files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.

Restart your Mac. See if that makes a difference.

Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.

Thanks for the swift reply, Carol.  Have done as you suggest and am holding my breath, but thus far, it seems to have done the trick.  Muchly appreciated.
