Aug 26, 2015 5:46 AM in response to Michael Blackby thekidkk, thank you but i didn't ask correct question
i think i now have saved all info in my new phone to the cloud (bot more space )
however
when i plugged my phone into my computer - the latest back up is from sept 2014
if i use that back up i will i lose all the info in the phone from that date forward to this day ?
(all this because my phone won't accept i tunes- and allow me to put music on the phone)
i think then i can at least go to the cloud and restore all backed up data back to this new phone
i hope i made sense

Aug 26, 2015 5:52 AM in response to thekidkkby Michael Black,Backups and restores when plugged in via iTunes, and those made over wifi to iCloud are independent of each other. If your recent backup was made in iCloud, then you need to restore from iCloud, which does not require you to plug the phone into your computer at all. If you have not backed up in iTunes since Sept of last year, then you should make a new backup in iTunes before you restore from iTunes.
Read those links I posted and make sure you are backing up to where you wish to (iCloud or iTunes) and then be sure to restore from the same backup source.
