Aug 26, 2015 8:21 AM in response to ovosahilby Csound1,The battery life will not stay the same over the years, it will lessen as the battery is used. Having pointed that out charging it is simple. Plug it in as often as you can, do not let it discharge completely (if possible recharge before the battery gets below 20%) and ensure that at least once a month you use it on battery power only (down to 20% if possible). It s not possible to overcharge the battery.
Don't worry about it, batteries are consumables, you will need to replace it (if you keep the Mac long enough)

Aug 26, 2015 8:34 AM in response to Csound1by OGELTHORPE,These Apple support articles will help give you an understanding how to use the battery in your MBP:

I have two 'golden rules' regarding battery usage;
Never totally discharge the battery. When you get the low battery warning, terminate your session and connect the MBP to AC.
If you use the MBP connected to AC all the time, at least monthly, run it on battery power alone till about the 40% level. Then you can reconnect to AC. Lithium ion batteries require occasion 'exercise' in order to achieve maximum battery life.
Ciao.
