Q: Has anyone burned Blu Rays with Compressor 4.2 in a separate Yosemite partition

Has anyone tried creating a partition (like on my MacBook Pro running Mtn Lion 10.8.5) and upgrading

that partition to Yosemite, and installing the Compressor 4.2 to that partition.  And then

burning Blu Rays with Compressor 4.2?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

    Yes,

     

    Do you have an earlier version of Compressor installed currently…and/or do you have a recent version of FCP – either legacy or X?

    Yes, I have Final Cut 7.0.3 and Compressor 4.0.7, both for Mountain Lion 10.8.5.

    But I figured I'd just purchase the new Compressor 4.2 for Yosemite 10.10.2? so I can

    upgrade when needed.  And that is all I'll run in the Yosemite or Maverick partition.

    It's not uncommon for users to install a different OS on a separate partition or separate drive, (I;m currently doing both,)

     

    Ecoding/burning Blu Ray in Compressor 4.2 may be a bit faster, but there shouldn't be any difference in quality.

    Thanks - I have now done this partition and the install upgrades, but....

     

    Next challenge apparently, my Lacie D2 Blu Ray burner drive is NOT compatible with Yosemite, and there

    are no firmware updates anymore for this Lacie drive, now owned by Seagate.

     

    What external Blu Ray burner drives are compatible with YOSEMITE?  I've checked most for Mac compatibility

    and they only go as high as Mtn. Lion, 10.8, or they 'say OS 10.6 or higher' (not likely).
