If you want to quit it completely, choose Utilities from the Finder’s Go menu, open the Script Editor, and run:
tell application “Finder” to quit

Aug 26, 2015 7:07 PM in response to Cece_sambranoby lkrupp,Why not tell us why you want to close Finder. Are you having a problem? Finder is the basis for the entire GUI of OS X. Without Finder running you cannot launch apps, open folders, or do much of anything (unless you are some Unix geek with command line skills, which I seriously doubt). On top of that if you quit Finder it will simply reopen itself immediately. So tell us the problem you are experiencing.
