Q: Bootcamp Windows 8.1 Partitioning

Hi

I went through a bit of reading and set up my first bootcamp with windows 8.1.

There was little guidance I found on appropriate partition sizing. I created a partition for windows of 34GB thinkiing it was only the windows program going in there. I think it is wrong as I have on 415MB left and my Office 365 One Drive will not install/sync. I suspect because there is no space left.

I know I cant resize a partition - so - is it a case i should be using nearly all my drive for bootcamp or create a new partition for data or some other configuration option?

Please help oh wise ones

    1. Windows also needs to create large files, which support Sleep/Hibernation/Memory Paging. These are derived from the amount of RAM on your Mac. There is no apple sizing guide which covers these aspects.

    2. How large is your internal disk?

    3. With the experience of installing Windows 8.1, you can remove Windows (using BCA only - nothing else), and then re-install with appropriate sizing.

    4. You can always store your personal data on an external disk, which provides portability, but implies carrying external storage with you separately.

    5. NTFS also supports compression, but the CPU overhead increases.
