Q: New Events in Calendar not updating

When I create a New Event in Calendar and input details, it reverts to a New Event with default details a few seconds after closing. I have to update the event one element at a time before it sticks.

Any ideas?

Mac mini, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), 2GHz

OK, that doesn't seem to have worked. It happens less often, but still happens. I'm now using the iCloud calenders rather than locally held ones.
