click "Power" on the left, post the CycleCount and the Condition of your battery.
(A worn out battery may go swelling and push against the underside of the trackpad and the keyboard)

Top follow up on LexSchellings suggestion, just open the MBP up and inspect the battery for any expansion. You will need a #00 Phillips driver.
Some times an very thorough cleaning of the trackpad will restore functionality.

ok Cycle Count: 76, Condition: Service Battery.
I am guessing you are right. I just arrived to Puerto Valkarta from 2 months on the usa west coast. The heat here must have triggered this.
I followed a thread posted this AM and did disk utility verify disk no problems from that end.
hoping I can get a battery here in my town.

Luckily it is not more complicated...
