Q: iMac takes 30 minutes to boot up and stay on.

Every single day, I'll boot up my computer after it was off all night, but he Mac will restart itself sith no warning over and over again unlike it decides to work. It takes me 30 minutes sometimes just to use it. Also, it'll restart when it comes oit of sleep mode.

I feel like it's just been getting worse too. At first it only restarted a couple times but now it's 10+ restarts before it works.

It's a 27 inch mid 2011 running 10.9.5 Mavericks.

Before you do anything, please completely backup your system. It is possible your HD is failing and you need to have your data backed up so you don't lose it!!!

Please post and EtreCheck report of your computer and we can look for obvious issues. You can get EtreCheck by clicing http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck

Will do as soon as I can get on. Also, sorry for all the typos. I'm on my phone.

Your system is a huge mess. The most obvious items I can spot are these two:

You use a torrent, if used to pirate apps this comes with a price which includes downloading malware. You can rule out viruses because there are none for OS X.

Next is you use Avast antivirus, which not only is 100% unnecessary it may be contributing your problems.

Next is you have a lot of Internet Plug ins and also a lot of items in your Login items.

What I recommend is to do a complete erase and install of OX and then manually install your apps and manually restore your data. If you used the torrent to download apps, forget them! I don't see any hardware problems with the exception of the possibility of the system needing more RAM. However, on the software side your system is a really big mess.

    Good luck!

I share the computer so I guess I can understand it being a mess. And about the torrenting... I don't recall ever torrenting any applications, only video files. It's strange you mentioned Avast too as I thought I deleted it a while back.

And what do you mean exactly by manually installing apps and restoring data? Do you mean backing up everything in Time Machine and restoring it?

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

    In the Console window, select

DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION System Diagnostic Reports

(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

              View Show Log List

    from the menu bar.

There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.

If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.

In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)

Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.

I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

When you post the report, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Install each app by either re-downloading or using the media it shipped with. You can use Time Machine to restore your data folder and all it's contents.

    A

Check the eligibility of the machine for this service:

iMac (27-inch): AMD Radeon 6970M Video Card Replacement Program - Apple Support

    B

Any or all of the following third-party system modifications may be contributing to the problem:

    Hamachi

    Spotflux

    ManyCam

    ScreenFlow

    Soundflower

    PocketAudio

    PocketCam

    Mobiola

That's far too many modifications for any hope of stability. If the panic is recurrent, check that all are up to date, and if they are, uninstall them, one at a time, according to the developers' instructions, to see whether you can determine which is at fault. A conflict between modifications may be involved. Restart the computer and test after each uninstallation.

Back up all data before making any changes.

Sorry for the late response. Deleted all the applications on that list and no luck. Any more suggestions?
