Q: How do you link Photos (not iPhoto) to iMove so that the pictures are available in iMove?

How do you link Photos to iMovie.  The Library bar does not include Photos (not iPhoto) and I am not able to import my pictures from Photos into iMovie.  Any help is appreciated.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

First you should make sure that your Photo Library is the System Photo Library: Designate a System Photo Library in Photos - Apple Support

In iMovie (v.10.0.9)* select Library at the top middle of screen (choice between Library and Theater) and you should see your Library/Libraries in the left column.

It does take some time before the photos start loading.

If this does not happen, the first thing I would try is repairing your Photos Library. To do so, launch Photos with the Option (Alt) and Command (⌘) key depressed.

    * I am specifically mentioning the version of iMovie that I tested. I still have the older iMovie v.9.0.9 (part of iLife '11) on my Mac as well, but cannot immediately verify whether this older program can read the much newer Photos Library.

I have meanwhile checked, and the version of your iMovie is important. As far as I can see, iMovie '11 (v.9.0.9) cannot import from Photos:

    It only sees older libraries.
