    Howdy Mikepd63,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

If I understand your post correctly, you are trying to sync content between different computers on your network.  To do this all you need to do is sign in to Home Sharing in iTunes on both computers with the same Apple ID, and then you will be able to download music from that other library on either computer.

    Home Sharing

Home Sharing allows you to transfer content to another computer or stream to other devices. To see your library and its contents on a different computer, you must be signed in with the same Apple ID and password.

To turn on Home Sharing, follow the steps below:

    1. Mac: From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose File > Home Sharing > Turn on Home Sharing.
Windows: Press the Control and B keys on your keyboard to open the iTunes menu bar. Choose File > Home Sharing > Turn on Home Sharing. Learn more about menus in iTunes for Windows.
    2. Enter your Apple ID and password.
    3. Click Turn on Home Sharing.
    4. If your computer isn't authorized with your Apple ID, iTunes might ask you if you want to authorize it. Learn more about authorization.
    5. Click Done. Sharing will disappear unless it sees a shared iTunes Library on the network.

On another Mac or PC, open iTunes. Repeat the steps above to turn on Home Sharing. You can turn Home Sharing on for up to 5 Mac or PC computers using iTunes on the home network.

Your shared iTunes library will appear on other computers, iOS devices using iOS 4.3 or later, and Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation) only if those devices have Home Sharing turned on, use the same Apple ID, and are connected to the same home network.

    Take care.

thank you for this.   Have followed the instructions but so far the only tracks showing on the Macbook Pro iTunes are those downloaded from Apple - so not those burned to my IMAC   very frustrating !

    Hi,

Have you looked at the link provided by Alex. Share your iTunes library over your home network - Apple Support

particularly the part about Sharing Preferences. If you set it to Share entire library or Share selected playlists it should work.

    Hi Mikepd63,

After enabling Home Sharing, did you try and import the music from the other computer?

Import items from other libraries using Home Sharing

    1. Click the Sharing button A button that looks like a house with a musical note inside near the top left of the iTunes window, and choose a library from the pop-up menu.

      The Sharing pop-up menu

    2. Click the button for the type of content you want to import (Music, for example) near the top left of the window.

Select a content type by clicking its button. If you don't see the content type you're looking for, click the three dots and choose from the pop-up menu

    3. Click the Show pop-up menu at the bottom of the iTunes window and choose “Items not in my library.”

    4. Select the items you want to import, and click Import.

iTunes 12 for Mac: Use Home Sharing to import items from another iTunes library

    Take care.

Just a technical point (if you are going to use computers and ask questions it is handy to use correct terminology so we more readily understand your questions and can answer them correctly), you didn't "burn" the tracks to your Mac, you either downloaded them from the iTunes Store or someplace else on the Internet, or you "ripped" them from CD.  Burning is what you do to put things on a CD or DVD because a laser literally burns the information in the dye layer in the plastic of the CD.

The Home Sharing process will copy tracks from one computer to another over a network,  It won't transfer the structure surrounding the track(s) such as playlists.
