Q: Is it safe to use an "85W MagSafe Power Adapter" charger with my 13" MacBook Pro purchased in Aug. 2011?
I'm moving out of the country, and want to bring a back up charger (just in case!). Can I safely use the 85W even though the computer came with (and I have been using) a 60W charger?
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

You can use a higher wattage charger. See the quote below from Find the right power adapter and cord for your Mac notebook - Apple Support
You can use a compatible higher wattage adapter without issue, but it won't make your computer charge faster or operate differently. Lower wattage adapters will not provide enough power.
