Q: IBA is not known in the ISBN-registration community

I am close to finishing the iBook (IBA) version of my book for the iBook Store. I went to our national registrar to get an ISBN. It turns out I cannot select IBA as a format. They suggest I use "ePub with Adobe DRM", "ePub2"

They do not maintain the list they use themselves. This is some sort of international list distributed via "Onix" or something like that. It seems, Apple never registered the IBA format there.

I smell an iWeb...

iBA produces books in the .ibooks format (not IBA).  Or in the epub format if you use one of the two special templates for that.

.ibooks is just a proprietary sort of epub format used only by Apple, so I'm sure epub is close enough for isbn purposes.  An isbn is not needed to put your book in the store.

My mistake: iBooks Author creates the IBA format. iBooks reads the .ibooks format. But that one is not in the list too (whereas many other ePub derivates are).
