Q: Cannot update to bootcamp 6?

I have no available updates from the app store, yet my version of bootcamp is still Version 5.1.4 (500). This is an issue because I am trying to upgrade to windows 10 which requires the latest version of bootcamp, which is bootcamp 6. I am wondering if anyone has a solution to this issue.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

    See Biller83 above :

    Ok, I made some progress:

    - I ran Boot Camp Assistant in Mac OSX, and actually clicked Next to see what it would do.

    - I selected Download Latest Support Software (and only that checkbox), and saved to a USB thumb drive formatted to FAT-32.

    - This apparently downloaded Boot Camp 6 to the thumb drive

    - I booted into Windows and after a few tries got one of my monitors to come up

    - I installed the software on the thumb drive, which did indeed update my Boot Camp to 6 on Windows.

    - Windows 10 is now behaving better; still some glitches, but my monitors show up at least.

    Hope this helps  ''

...However, don't expect version to change under OSX... it will on your USB key.  No idea if that makes a difference, but once under Win 10, Apple Update will install BCA 6...

Is it possible to edit that BC 6 XML so i can run BC 6 on a macbook which is unintended to be installed on?
Maybe i could use again the trick i did to install win 10, which was replacing de hd to a newer macbook pro (mid 2012). idk.
I just want to know if i could just edit something on the xml so it allow my early 2011 macbook pro to run BC 6.

    Thanks

Can you clarify if you intend to run BC6 Assistant on the MBA, or BC6 Drivers on MBA?

BC6 Assistant is part of El Capitan.

BC6 Drivers do not exist for your model. Moving disk drives between different models will cause pain and grief. Your 2011 and 2012 Macs may have different GPUs, different Sound devices, etc. I would not recommend such an approach.

On 2011 install the highest supported version of Windows (W8.1), and then upgrade to W10 on the 2011 mac. If you have driver issues, run the BC5 Drivers appropriate for your 2011 Mac in W7/W8 compatibility mode, as appropriate.

Even Intel-GPU only models have significant GPU differences.
