Sep 5, 2015 2:22 PM in response to Macbook air ewgby Kurt Lang,That doesn't make any sense. "Hacked" how? What are you seeing in Safari? A screen shot posted here would help.

Sep 5, 2015 3:45 PM in response to Paul Conawayby Macbook air ewg,I think it is malware and AVG (free) does not pick up on it. It shows alert messages (in red) that I should call a #. Only occurs in Safari Browser. Wish I could do a screen shot, but safari freezes up and can do nothing.

Sep 5, 2015 3:46 PM in response to Macbook air ewgby stedman1,It is a scam message.
Force quit Safari, then restart Safari while holding the Shift key.

Sep 5, 2015 3:48 PM in response to Macbook air ewgby Barney-15E,Force Quit Safari (apple menu).
Then, restart Safari holding down the Shift key. That will prevent the last loaded page from re-loading.
My guess is you mistyped the address for the finance company. The scammers have set up sites that are only a few letters different than the actual site. When you mistype the address, you go to their Scam site instead of the one you really wanted.

Sep 5, 2015 5:08 PM in response to Macbook air ewgby pinkstones,★HelpfulPlease uninstall AVG. Anti-virus programs are useless and pointless on Apple computers. It's basically sucking up space, and not actually protecting you from anything. That's what you should do first. Then, follow the above posters' advice and boot Safari in Safe Mode, then clear browser history, clear all caches/cookies/website data, and then get rid of any extensions that you don't remember installing or don't really need. The only one I have is Adblock Plus because it's really the only one I find to be necessary. After you've done all that, quit Safari, then open it normally. You shouldn't have any further issues.

Sep 5, 2015 5:00 PM in response to pinkstonesby Kurt Lang,★HelpfulHi pinkstones,
Adblock Plus is actually an adware infested scam that is deliberately named after the real Adbock. Even their logo is a ripoff of Adblock's stop sign. I would recommend removing it immediately. The real Adblock can be gotten here:

Sep 5, 2015 6:19 PM in response to Macbook air ewgby John Galt,Read Phony "tech support" / "ransomware" popups and web pages.
Uninstall "AVG Anti-Virus". It is capable of nothing beneficial. To uninstall it read and follow these instructions, with particular attention given to the grammatically incorrect "Note" near the end of the page: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?q=uninstall+avg&urlname=How-to-uninst all-AVG-AntiVirus-for-Mac&l=en_US

Sep 5, 2015 7:29 PM in response to Kurt Langby WZZZ,Kurt, how is ABP adware infected? Are you talking about its option to allow some "non-intrusive" ads. I use it for Firefox with that option off, and I don't see any adware. I don't see any ads period. I've been using it for many years.

Sep 5, 2015 7:53 PM in response to Kurt Langby pinkstones,That's funny, because I used Adblock Plus for years on Firefox, and now here on Safari, and have gotten not one single piece of adware on my computer. I never even got adware on my Dell laptop when I used Adblock Plus in Firefox over there. Why should I remove it when it hasn't harmed my system and does what it tells me it will do? Don't you think if Adblock Plus was some adware-riddled monstrosity, something might be said about it before now?
