Q: Exercise has stopped calculating on the activity app

The activity app has stopped calculating/ showing my exercise minutes.  I have walked the same distance twice a day.  It was bad enough with an exercise  discrepancy between walks of anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour.  But now it completely refuses to acknowledge any exercise.  I walked my fastest 3 miles in 1 hour and 6 minutes.  The watch showed no exercise.  This morning I did the same 3 miles in 1 hour 10 minutes and again, no minutes.  I have reset and rebooted the system.  ALL this failure happened AFTER I used the workout app....  I use multiple different step trackers, and it seems to be close.  So, how do I get this resolved?

I got around it by using the workout app and choosing "other" for my walk.

How do you "calibrate" the watch???

Information and a link to calibration instructions were contained in my first post, which also suggested using "Other" in the Workout app.

I am glad to hear that using Other is working for you.

Yes... I wasn't using the workout app until about 3 days ago.  Then I thought I'd give it a try.  The next two days I received no exercise credit.  I've received credit all the other days for exercise, but it seemed erratic.  One day I would get 60 minutes exercise credit,  the next 32, the next 74 and so on.  Always walking the same course and distance.  I thought it was related to my arm movement.... But maybe not...

Yes, I tried all your other suggestions but none of those worked with the exception of "other" in the workout app.

Cycling can't be that tricky (my FitBit tracks my cycling) .... The accelerometer takes into account total body movement... It also uses the GPS on my phone to measure distance and speed.  It has always calculated SOME exercise.  Since I've used the workout app that changed....  I wonder if it attempted to measure my heart rate, miscalculated it and reset the system to a different "goal".  Makes since....  If it read my HR at 64 when in fact it was 128, then it would say I never have met my "goal".  It's calculating everything else.  Today I turned the HR monitor off and, guess what, it reads ALL activity.  Move, Exercise, and Stand....  There must be a connection between the two...

    1. Cycling - it has reported in various posts here and in other forums that the Watch can struggle to recognise cycling if a Workout hasn't been started. The accelerometer can recognise that you're moving, but not necessarily that your legs are moving. After all, the Watch is at rest relative to the bike and, if you're riding roads, your upper body. Off-road, there's more upper body movement, but still...

    2. If your heart rate is persistently being read as half its actual value, that will have an effect. As has been suggested, you might've a fully watch - a call to Appe support would be a good idea.
