Q: Photo sync between IPhone & MacBook

Hello

When i take a photo using my iPhone, it automatically transfers to my MacBook Photos.

However when i delete it from my iPhone, the photo still remains in my MacBook Photos.

How do i sync deletion of photos?

When you delete from one device with iCloud Photo Library enabled, a delete on one device deletes the image on the other device.  Sometimes this takes a couple of minutes to happen for a single photo and longer if deleting multiple photos.  If this is not working for you ensure you have iCloud Photo Library enabled on each device.  In OS X, choose Photos Menu > Preferences and check iCloud Photo Library.  In iOS, Settings > Photos and Camera and make sure iCloud Photos Library is on (green).

How are you syncing the iPhone and computer? iCloud or by some other method?

    Hello UGADog,

thank you for the detailed response. i had it enabled on my iPhone, but not on my macbook.

i have 50GB if photos and vidoes, and i don't want to upload all of them to the cloud, and a pay a monthly fee.

i was hoping to have them locally stored, but in sync. So when i take a photo on the phone, it gets sent to the Macbook (which it does), and when i delete a picture, it gets removed from the MacBook (which it doesn't)

    With thanks...

    Via the iCloud, i think!.

But only one directional. i.e. from iPhone to MacBook.

as mentioned in a previous post, i have iCloud Photo Library enabled on my iPhone, but not on my MacBook, else it will try to upload the entire contents of my MacBook photos (all 50GB).

    You're welcome.

What I do to control iCloud storage space is have two libraries.  One, Photos, I keep the newer or more frequently accessed photos.  The second, an iPhoto library (but it could be a second Photos library) is my archive with photos going to the mid '90s.  If they are both Photos libraries you can choose which one you open with Option-Click on the Photos app.  Then I move photos from my day to day working Photos Library to my archive library once a year or so.  This way my primary Photo's library is a manageable under 20GB size  (Designate a System Photo Library in Photos - Apple Support ) and synced to the cloud where a delete from one device deletes that photo everywhere (all devices and iCloud).
