Oct 9, 2013 5:23 PM in response to SiopaoPandaby randers4,Photo stream photos aren't backed up, only camera roll photos are. If they were still in the camera roll on your iOS device when it was last backed up, restoring the backup should recover them.

Photo Stream on your Mac or an iOS device?
If you had enabled Photo Stream on your Mac and are using Time Machine, the photos will be part of your Time Machine backup of your user library in your Home folder and you can try to restore the photos from your Time Machine backup.
Reveal the folder ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/ in theFinder and
Enter Time Machine, go back in time to a day before you deleted the Photo Stream.
Restore the folder ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/ to a folder on your Desktop. Look in the subfolders of "sub" for your missing photos.
In MacOS X Mavericks your user library may still be hidden. To reveal it, simply select your Home folder (with the little House icon) in the Finder sidebar or the User folder. Then press ⌘J to show the "View" options.
In the View options panel enable "Show Library Folder". Now you will be always able to access the Library folder in your Home folder.

Mar 17, 2016 3:08 AM in response to léonieby Mr.Poo,Hi,
it is a while, since the last post, but my question fits in perfectly here. I deleted the photos of my Photo Sharing (not Photo Streaming), because I just wanted to make more space on my iPhone, but instead, it removed them on all devices.
1) Would it be possible to recover the old time machine backup, which includes the correct "/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/" folder, fire up Aperture and then hope, that Aperture is going to reupload those albums to photo share?
The reason is: I was able to find the pictures, but the belonging to the corresponding album is gone.
Some more questions:
2) Does Aperture save the photo share pictures in that folder only? Because I found some of them (different size) in the masters folder.
3) Does Aperture rename the filename while uploading to photo share? Maybe, if the photo is shared via iPhone? Found some photos in assets/sub, which have a different filename compared to the original in my masters folder.
Thank you!

I don't think so, but I never tested this. Theis folder is synced by the cloudphotosd process, not by Aperture. Aperture is apparently using this folder to show you what is currently in iCloud but dropping photos there does not upload them.

If you import the photos from the Shared album, the photos will be saved in your masters folder. And if you upload a photo from your library to the Shared album, the original copy will stay in the Masters folder. The photos in iCloud may be reduced in size. There is a size limit for photos in shared albums, and the reduced copies may have different names. I found some photos with weird numbers a filename that were reduced in size. But I am not sure when exactly the renaming happens, because I have iCloud Photo Library active as well.

Mar 17, 2016 3:40 AM in response to léonieby Mr.Poo,Dear léonie,
thanks for your quick and detailled answers.
Even I am very familiar with computers in general, I am a little bit helpless, how to continue to proceed.
I can go without the reconstruction of the Photo Share folders. The only important point for me is, to keep those photos, which are not on my library and get rid of the duplicates. I got several duplicate checker tools, which not only compare by hash numbers, but also by the image content (they can be resized)
I spent the whole night, but I dont have a master plan :-/
(BTW:
Those photos, which are currently in my "Aperture/Trash/Recovered Project" seem to be in masters then.
I tried to choose from context menu "put back", but they only dissapear from trash and are gone from the whole library)
