Q: Keyboard won't connect to iMac

Hi all,

Keyboard worked perfectly yesterday but refuses to connect today. I've spent the last 4 hours going through suggested fix pages but nothing works. Last one I tried was removing the keyboard from the bluetooth list in system preferences and the turning discovery on but all this has done is delete the keyboard and discovery cannot find the keyboard what so ever. There are no other devices connected to the keyboard as the iMac is brand new. Just hoping someone has some other type of solution to this really annoying problem before I give up and drive 20 miles to take it back into Apple...

    Hey Salpetersaure,

It sounds as if you are having a really frustrating time trying to get your bluetooth keyboard to work with your iMac. Let's see if we can get you back on the road.

You mention that you have already removed the keyboard's pairing record from System Preferences > Bluetooth. That's a good troubleshooting step, of course, and one that I would have suggested. There are a number of other troubleshooting steps that can be found in this article - Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues.

One very important step mentioned in this article is the keyboard's battery level. Just to make sure the batteries in the keyboard are functioning correctly I would suggest installing a fresh set. See this article - Apple Wireless Keyboard, Mouse, and Trackpad: How to install batteries.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Happy computing.
