Jan 19, 2015 5:34 PM in response to Raeserby carlfrompanama city,I bought an Apple TV today, 19 Jan 2015. I hooked it up to my 2012 Panasonic's HDMI-1 port. The TV Input would not recognize the new Apple TV. I then hooked it up to my 2011 Panasonic's HDMI-1 port. Same problem. I had to return the Apple TV and HDMI cable to the store and get a refund. I am an all Apple person: iMac; Apple AirPort Extreme; iPhones; etc. Oh well! Se la Vie for this Old Retired EE!

Aug 4, 2015 2:35 AM in response to jegbby Bill85308,I Am having the exact same issue on the exact same TV. All other programming is coming through as 16:9. I am running everything through a Yamaha AV471. Thinking maybe the AV system was the issue, I connected the ATV directly to the Panasonic HDMI. Still the same issue. Cannot change the resolution from 480p.
ATV worked fine until 3 days ago. It was showing 16:9. I've tried resetting, restoring, changed HDMI cable, changed HDMI port on Yamaha. Nothing has worked. Brought ATV back to Apple Store and exchanged unit thinking something was wrong. This also didn't work.I did hook my ATV to another LED TV and it showed up at 16:9.
I love my ATV. Any thoughts or suggestions? I do not want to replace a perfectly good Plasma TV.

Sep 10, 2015 4:30 AM in response to Bill85308by warichodo,I have pretty much the same issue. I have had ATV connected up to my Panasonic Viera 42" plasma for a couple of years and all worked fine. Suddenly one day a few months ago it stopped showing a picture. I assume it was the ATV and tried resetting and all sorts of thing but as I saw no image on the screen I thought is was broken. Then I tried it on my PC monitor and another LG TV we have and it all worked as normal. Very strange problem. I have tried different leads, resolutions, everything in this thread. I am contemplating replacing the TV but that seems drastic as it works fine with any other HDMI source hooked up to it. Virgin Tivo works fine as does XBOX One.
The only thing haven't tried is another ATV connected, mainly because I don't know anyone with one. Well, not well enough for them to lend it to me. As its now a couple of years old I doubt Apple will do anything FOC anyway.

Sep 11, 2015 9:03 AM in response to warichodoby warichodo,Update to my post above. - I did find someone with an apple TV the same as mine. Tried it on my Panasonic TV and I got a picture. Very weird. I'm going to see if apple will do a swap.

Sep 11, 2015 1:13 PM in response to warichodoby Alley_Cat,Outside chance that all these problems are down to a failing HDMI cable/interface - well worth trying a different HDMI lead or input on the TV if one is available.

Nov 6, 2015 10:34 PM in response to Alley_Catby rbd55555,I have an Apple TV 4 and my Panasonic Vierra will not recognize it. Blank screen on all HDMI inputs. Tried multiple cables, reset TV to factory, pretty much everything I can think of. Returned the first unit in exchange for another, same problem.
