Q: iMovie doesn't open

My Mac OS is 10.9.5, and my iMovie is - I'm not sure - probably 10 (can't open).

I was working with iMovie when it crashed, and when tried to re-launch it - it doesn't do anything, doesn't show anything and goes into 'application is not responding'  even when I rebooted and relaunched again.

I tried clearing prefernces and cache as explained here - iMovie not responding

I tried trashing preferences as explained here - How do I trash the iMovie Preferences File? and Why?

Nothing worked.

However what I noted is this - when I go to iMovie in Application folder and make it 'Show Package Content' and navigate to app file and try to launch from there, as someone suggested in the above, the terminal window appears and this is written there -

2015-09-12 18:29:53.595 iMovie[367:507] 18:29:53.595 WARNING:   [0x7fff77813310] >compload> AudioComponentPluginLoader.cpp:596: QueryBundle: AudioComponentPluginLoader: can't create bundle: AC3%20Codec.component -- file:///Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/

I suppose something is wrong with some codec? I went to file:///Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ - and there is simply no such file, the folder is empty.

What else can I do? Any ideas?

And also - may be I should reinstall iMovie? Is it possible, wouldn't my work die?

hi again, suddenly found a solution - well, fairly disastrous, but at least it works - read about it somewhere in another forums - the solution is to delete everything inside imovie library. After it works fine - I need to copy back my stuff to the imovie library to check if I can get my work back, but at least I can open imovie  and work with it (I couldn't at all).
