What is the model year for your MBP? What is current OS version NUMBER? What is the version NUMBER of the OS you are trying to install? Do an About this Mac from the Finder.
After you tell us this, explain the recipe that you are using to do the installation. Tell us where it breaks down.
When you want more than just a vague "try again" answer, you have to provide more than just a vague "it does not work" statement of your problem.
