Q: How to replace a previous version of motion?
I want to replace a previous version of Motion with the latest version. I've tried following the instructions to delete the earlier version. Everything seems to go fine. But when I go to the App store, the only option I'm given is to update. How do I replace an older version of Motion with the latest version?
Thank you,

If update is the only option, you probably still have copy someplace on your computer. Either you did not empty the trash, it is stored on another partition, or is not compressed (.zip). Here's what to do.
1. If you need a backup, make sure it is compressed, you can do this by right clicking the app and selecting "Compress" from the contextual menu. Once that's done, move the backup file out of the Apps folder. Drag the actual application to the trash and empty it.
2. To make sure you don't have the app on another partition, eject any hard drives that are connected.
Now, you should be able to launch the app store and it should show up in your purchases with the install option, if not search your hard drive for any other copies and delete those.
