Jun 30, 2015 12:09 PM in response to nicole1285by Gregg Favalora,Hello,
I hope that your problem has been resolved. My wife had a similar issue: her iPhone 5 worked great on iOS 7. But, when we upgraded to iOS 8, the microphone seemed "deaf" for Voice Dictation and Siri. [But the phone and Voice Recorder worked.] Despite hours of attempts / reboots / restore / resettings, it did not solve the problem.
Solution: we went to the Genius Bar. They noticed that one of its two microphones was dead. So, they gave her a new iPhone 5 and did a Restore from iCloud Backups. Now it works again.

Jul 20, 2015 11:32 AM in response to Gregg Favaloraby PauloCabral,I am joining this discussion after reading everything since the first message.
My wife has a Iphone 6 Plus, 64GB, iOS 8.4, and she is having the same problem: the microphone seemed "deaf" for Voice Dictation and Siri. But the phone and Voice Recorder works.
I did everything suggested here and nothing worked and we can't have it replaced here in our country, because it was bought overseas.
It is amazing that Apple did not solve it yet.

Jul 23, 2015 5:47 AM in response to mikehorrocksby MK111,I am on my FOURTH IPhone 6 Plus in as many weeks. First one worked for 3 weeks (just long enough to go beyond the 14 day return period) then the mic on Siri and Text stopped working. I restored it twice and then brought it into the Apple store where I had purchased it. After 4++++ hours they replaced it. 13 days later I was back because the new phone would not Pair with anything. After another 4+++ hours they replaced it. Twelve days later I had the exact same problem as the origional problem and after another 4++++++++ hours they replaced it again suggesting that I not restore it but treat it as a "new Phone" when connecting to iTunes. WHAT A PAIN!!!
Maybe they should consider having the older children assembly the IPhone 6 Plus;)

Aug 17, 2015 6:24 AM in response to nicole1285by PauloCabral,iOS 9 will be launched in September 2015.
Does anyone know if this problem will be solved in this new version?

Aug 24, 2015 6:59 AM in response to PauloCabralby TravelTurtle,Not in the beta at least. My phone started showing the same symptoms after having used the beta version for two weeks without a problem. Might be a hardware issue with the background noise speaker.

Sep 15, 2015 7:07 AM in response to TravelTurtleby Gs29,I Have the same issue. Siri can't hear me but it works when I connect the earbuds. On top of this when using Skype or whatsapp on loudspeaker or video mode the person on the other end Of the call can't hear me. I raised the issue with apple care and I been having a terrible experience so far. I'm shocked with the quality of the costumer suppor. over the last two weeks my iPhone was sent in twice to apple care UK and both occasions I received the phone as I sent it. They say they are not even able to reproduce the issue. but as soon as I inbox it the problem is there. Full factory reset or restore the iPhone did not work.
latest advice is to go in to an Apple Store but it's about a weeks waiting time. It's been over three weeks without the phone. if Apple engineers can fix it I wonder what to do

Oct 1, 2015 2:18 PM in response to nicole1285by DaddyOFTheMacDaddy,Same issue with my iPhone 6 on 8.4. Siri was working fine, then one day it would not answer. On SMS messages it does not respond at all. I've read where some users are being told it is the front or rear speaker, may be, but Google works fine, and quickly.
Siri worked fine listening to music and giving me the name and artist, but now....nothing.
There is an issue with Siri and the talk to test portion of the software. Apple has to know about it by now. I really don't want to get another phone and go through the process of setting up my phone again for a temporary fix.
Addendum: I forgot to mention the SMS message will record, but the playback is very garbled and low volume. I don't understand why Google voice can hear and reply without issue, but Siri, text to talk and SMS message has problems.

Oct 7, 2015 11:06 AM in response to nicole1285by robfromsd,Same issue here for me on my iPhone 6 OS 9.0.2. Tried resetting networks, tried toggling SIRI off and on, tried toggling enable dictation, etc. Nothing works. It just stopped operating correctly. Someone at Apple needs to look into this one.
