Q: MacBook Air Display Issue - Half Darker, Half Lighter

Have a fairly strange problem where the screen still works fine and all other aspects of the MacBook Air seem to work fine however the screen is divided vertically exactly in half with the left hand side of the screen a darker shade than the right hand side of the screen.

Normal use isn't affected but adjusting photos is a bit of a nightmare.

Anyone else experiencing this or know anything about it?

I'm running 10.6.7.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem with my MBA bought in August.

Currently in France it took me a while to get an appointment and they kept it for 5 days, during which I ll not be able to work.

I also noticed that the MBA temperature increases faster than my huband's own.

They said that they are going to change the screen and conduct some checks, but I am not very comfurtable with this.

Never had any problem with my windows laptop which I am happy to still have.

I am wondering if I can ask them to replace it completly? any advice?

I have this same problem. The vertical half of my MacBook Air 11" screen turned blurry/lighter (the other equal side has normal color). I don't know what happened. I've rarely ever used my MacBook recently, and I've been very careful with it, as I always am with my things. It has disappointed me. Please help. Thanks!

Same here: MacBook Air 2015, screen is vertically divided with one half darker one lighter and occasionally goes black then lights back up. From what I can gather, Apple uses two panels per screen and the backlight connections are coming unsoldered. brave iMac users did their own screens, which they shouldn't have to. Clearly apple has a systemic problem with the backlight connections on these screens. When will this be fixed?

    Hi.

I noticed something close to your issue: right side slightly dimmer on right half. It takes a low viewing angle to detect the issue and is only noticeable on certain hues of grey and off-whitish tones. Will be bringing it back to the store and see what they think.

    Gerald.
