Q: ios 9 causing an inability to connect to wireless networks

after upgrading to ios 9, I found that I was unable to connect to wireless networks even though my phone could detect them. I tried to restore to an earlier version, but the problem still persists. I dont want to use all my cellular data...Any help is appreciated.

Go to Settings > Reset > Reset Network Settings

Make sure you know your Wifi passwords to reconnect with.

Hmmm.......Did you reboot your phone?  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time until you see the Apple Logo and then let go of both buttons.  If you can't reconnect to your home network after that, turn off your router for about 30 seconds, then turn it back on and it will reset.

The issue came up after I installed iOS 9. I did it while I was at work but didn't notice that I had problems connecting until I got home. I'm a grad student in college dorms so I can't reset the router for the Internet. I tried restoring my phone but unfortunately iOS 9 was my last backup point. I'm not quite sure what is causing the problem but I didn't have this issue when I was on 8.4. I have reset my network settings as well. This may not be a problem with iOS 9, but I think it's odd that I didn't have this problem prior to updating and do now.

iOS 9 (and 8.4) changed the security settings for WPA 2, if the certificate your Network is using doesn't have strong enough encryption it will NOT connect anymore until the Network team changes their Certificate to one using a 2048 bit key

I've successfully updated two iPhone 6 and two iPads to iOS9, none of which are having any issues accessing our network.  Here is a link for wifi access issues and maybe there's something in it I didn't think to suggest:

Well the issue still isnt resolved. I have tried everything I stated in my previous post and cant restart the router or check cables since the internet is supplied by my school and not accessible by me. I live in the dorms and do not have access to the physical router or any cables. I should point out that the internet worked fine on 8.4 so the WPA 2 key encryption change is most likely not the answer. I appreciate all your help, but the problem must lie elsewhere since my iPad running on 8.4 still can connect to the network just fine as well.

    Hi,

Same problem here, works at home but not at the office. I upgraded my iPad Air 2 yesterday and did my iPhone 5s today at the office (have not tried my iPhone at home yet). My iPad and iPhone did'nt "see" the office wifi, but if I shared the internet connection from my iPhone and connected my iPad the network showed up and I could connect, strange.

I have updated two other iPhones one 5s and one 6 with iOS 9, they have the same problem, but connecting them to my iPhone made them "see" the wifi and could connect

    /Glenn
