Sep 16, 2015 10:05 PM in response to PlanningPrinceby KraftyInSeattle,★HelpfulI found a workaround, which should for any version of Windows (Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10):
1) Close iTunes if open
2) Use a program such as 7-zip to open up the iTunes 12.3 executable (e.g. iTunes6464Setup.exe) and extract the following:
- iTunes6464.msi
- AppleApplicationSupport64.msi
- AppleMobileDeviceSupport6464.msi
NOTE: the names will vary slight for 32-bit OSs
3) Right-click on AppleApplicationSupport64.msi and choose install. If there is a prompt to repair or install then choose repair.
4) Right-click on AppleMobileDeviceSupport6464.msi and choose install. If there is a prompt to repair or install then choose repair.
5) Right-click on iTunes6464.msi and choose install.
Recommendation: Preform these steps of upgrading iTunes after updating all your devices to iOS 9 due a different problem.
Cause: The problem most likely is caused by AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi for 64-bit versions of Windows.

Sep 17, 2015 3:23 AM in response to KraftyInSeattleby turingtest2,Looks like AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi may be the problem from looking at another thread. Installing each extracted .msi file in alphabetical order should work to get iTunes installed. If ASU still fails then you could try to reinstall the relevant .msi from a previous installer, or wait for the next one.

Sep 19, 2015 12:00 AM in response to PlanningPrinceby jannine51,I have downloaded and installed version 12.3 of iTunes. The App Sore tells me that I need to upgrade to version 12.3. I try to do it again and it does stop in the middle of the download again and again and tells me that my closed iTunes cannot be open while I try to upgrade. What can I do?
