Q: Need help for my Macbook 13" late 2008 for RAM & SSD Upgrade

Hi guys.. I'm currently using my old Mac 5.1 late 2008 Intel Core 2 Duo, RAM 2Gb DDR3 1067MHz, 160GB standard HDD. I'm considering to upgrade her performance and speed to add more RAM to 2x4GB and switch the standard HDD to SSD 250GB. For your information, she's got partition between Mac (110GB) and Windows (50GB) since some works still need to be done in Windows.

Is it okay if I upgrade this old Mac to such specifications and if it's not okay, what will the effect be? If it's okay, then any recommendation of the most suitable and reasonable (price) for RAM and SSD? Really really need help here so I don't need to buy a new laptop and can save money for my kids. Appreciate it much guys!

PS: I'm running on OS X Yosemite 10.10.3

Go to the OWC and Crucial web sites and see what they have for your exact model Macbook. I cannot answer your question without that information.

Mike I have some Sandforce based SSDs, they run perfectly well on a 3GB/s sata connection.
I agree with Ogelthorpe to avoid Samsung, the stories are really mixed about the Samsungs.

Yes you can upgrade to 8GB. Macbook 13" late 2008, model 5,1.
When Apple brings out a product there are the Apple specs, they never change this even when practice shows that you can do more.

If the Macs you're using Sandforce drives on have the Nvidia MPC79 controller they will be limited to SATA I 1.5gb speed. There is a known conflict between that controller and Sandforce. OWC tech support will confirm the conflict.
