Q: ios9 voice call problems

Every since the upgrade (Australia location) IOS9, i can not hear people voice when calling. I can hear all muffled and very distorted sounds, and same distorted voice is heard from the other end. Tested Mic with Voice Memo and it works and i can record and hear message back. IF i put on a set of head phones i can hear the caller and its all normal. Anyone know what can be the problem?

After restarting two more times, my distorted calls went away. I'm still having problems with Continuity calling via OS X though.  I had this issue on Verizon in the US.

Same exact problem.  Using an external Bluetooth speaker is fine but when I switch to using the phone speaker, my mother sounds like an alien.

Hey. I've got the same issue on my iPhone 6. I restarted 1 time and the problem disappeared. Hope this helps.

Had the same problem. One restart was not enough to resolve it (had to do it 2 or 3 times). It's working fine now, and hoping to stay like that.

This happened to me after updating my iPhone 6 to iOS 9 - voices garbled. I did a restart (also called a soft reset and it fixed my problem. I used the following soft reset steps:

    Soft Reset

    1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears.
    2. Drag the slider on the screen.
    3. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

If this doesn't work you can try a hard reset but you may loose your settings and/or data so do a backup first. The restart/soft reset worked for me.

    Hard Reset

Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for about ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Note: The “Sleep/Wake” button is located on the right side of the iPhone 6. It is located on the top of the iPhone 5 and lower models.

The above steps should not erase any data from the device under normal conditions, but if the device is corrupted you may lose some settings or data.

I was experiencing the same problem, although I was just making my first outgoing call of the update this morning.  I decided myself to go ahead and restart the phone while I searched for solutions.  I came across this discussion as my phone was coming back on, and viola! the calls sounded normal again.

I had this happen yesterday morning and again this morning.  Both times required phone reboots.  I hear verrrry slooow ringing and very slow speech, the person I called said that I sounded high pitched and that I was talking 40 MPH.  Almost sounds like a time warp - slow on my end, highly accelerated on the other.

I hope I don't have to go through this daily.

My iPhone 6S Plus has been plagued with the garbled voice problem since updating to 9.3.5. I continually have to do a hard reset to correct the problem, however it re-occurs. I am on Verizon, NY, NY. Apple, please fix this. I am in sales and cannot afford to have this happen when I am on the phone with customers.
