Q: activity rings are not tracking properly

So recently I have been noticing that I'll run for 30-1 hour and the Apple watch isn't completing the exercise ring. It will say I ran for 10 min. or 18 min. when I've ran longer. The exercise application where you select outdoor run, indoor run, elliptical, etc. tracks it properly but the exercise rings do not. This just started happening sporadically a couple of weeks ago. I spoke to a technician and have went into the apple store to have a Mac person look at the watch and all they said was wait until IOS9 comes out to see if that update helps but it hasn't. Today I ran again and it only tracked part of the time i ran. I didn't see an update for the Apple watch software so I'm thinking it's a watch issue. Is there going to be an update to the apple watch software too? Please help...it's frustrating when you know you've exercised more than 30 min. and the exercise ring doesn't track it. This is one of the reasons I purchased this watch so it would track all my activity and now it's not working and I've only had it or 4 months. Disappointing.

Anyone else have this issue???

Frustrated,

Lori

    Hi Lori

The Exercise ring has been the subject of various discussions here.

A software update for Apple Watch (watchOS 2) was originally due to be released yesterday, along with iOS 9.

However, Apple announced a delay in the release. A press statement explained: "We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly" due to having "discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected".

It may be worth waiting to see whether watchOS 2, once released, addresses your issue.

Thanks Jonathan. I guess I'll wait for the update to watchOS2 and see if it fixes it before shipping off my phone to a 3rd party vendor. That's what Apple said they would do when I went in the other day to discuss the issue. Hope it comes out soon. I've been taking screen shots as Apple wanted proof.

    Hi Lori

You're welcome. Waiting for watchOS 2 first sounds like a good plan.
