Tap the photo that you want to delete, then tap the trash can icon.

That's odd. I have the trash can icon in the bottom right corner of the screen when I tap a photo to select it. I'm not sure what you mean by non selfie photos either, any photo taken with the front facing camera will appear in the selfies album.

Force close the Photos app and force restart the phone. No data is affected when you do this.

Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.

Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

To force restart your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

    Demo,

I followed your procedure and nothing has changed. I can delete photos in the selfie folder that are selfies stored in my "camera roll" folder. I load all my photos that are in folders on my computer onto my phone. The selfie folder picks up from these folders, selfie pictures as well as a few pictures of my house ( what I call non-selfie photos) that I took with the normal camera. It will not allow me to delete these photos unless I delete the folder they are in off the phone. I wish Apple would let me delete any photo out of the selfie folder without having to delete the photo from the folder that I loaded from my computer. It is strange to me that Apple would lock them up like this.

I am having the same issue, I do not have a 'delete' option available, only a share or "add to" option. The trash icon is in grey and will not work. It has also added photos I have not taken that were uploaded from my computer, and many I have taken of my pets - not using the front facing camera. It has placed over 140 photos and all I want to do is delete the non-selfie ones. I've force quit the album and the phone. Noting changes. The trash can icon is simply not working in this folder

Just noticed I had 4 pictures in a selphie album. Selected them, hit delete, went back to album list and watched the album disappear. I don't understand the problem.

I have this issue exactly. The only photos I can highlight and delete are photos that are also in my camera roll.

George, Were those photos that you deleted also in your "Camera roll folder"? We are having the issue with deleting photos loaded into our "selfie folder" from the photos uploaded to our iphone from our computers using iTunes.

IF the photos were synced from iTunes, you have delete them by unsyncing them. This explains how to do that.

Sync photos from your computer to your iOS device using iTunes - Apple Support

If you can no longer access those photos to remove them, follow these instructions.

Delete photos and video synced from iTunes when you can’t access the originals - Apple Support

The puzzling issue here is how photos from your computer got into the selfies album in the first place. You are obviously not alone in this situation. It almost appears to be a bug of some sort if you are in fact getting photos in the selfies album that you did not take with an iOS device and instead came from your computer somehow.

Hi Demo, I have deleted all my pics by unseating them, then resented, and the exact same pics are appearing in the 'Selfies' folder.

If I remove the photo from the folder before sighting, screen grab it, then add it back in the folder as the screen grab, it does not appear in the 'Selfie' folder. It's like something about the photo, whether it was taken with my camera or not, is being recognised as a selfie.

    Thank you for your help

mgrassni, in theory the only photos (pointers actually - not actual photos) that should appear in the Selfies Album are photos taken with the front facing camera thus being true selfies. Apparently there is a bug in the update process that treats some photos in other albums as selfies even though they are not. I have not encountered this myself but I am reading some reports to this effect. Perhaps if enough people send feedback to Apple the next update will correct.

I am having a similar issue...I don't object to the selfie folder...it can be a handy thing to have...however, once I updated to IOS9 it imported pictures into the folder that were not my selfies...and many of them are images of people that have sent me their photos and I saved them...what's up with that?...when I select them and try to delete them the system only lets me delete the images I took with my phone of me and friends...none of the other images can be deleted and the trash icon goes gray if I select any of the imported images!...UGH!

I suggest everyone go to this Apple feedback link and express your concerns about how the selfie folder is working. Maybe we will get it fixed in the next update. https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Why should we have to delete the photos sync by iTunes. I think Apple should make the selfie folder more user friendly. Just allow me to delete the selfies I do not want in the selfie folder without having to remove them from my phone entirely.
