Have you tried making the backup manually?

I Am having the same issue with both my iPads.  The iCloud backup (even when chosen manually) has been excruciatingly slow.  I managed to backup my iPhone (4.9 GB) early yesterday morning but both my iPads start backing up then slow to a crawl estimating hours to backup.  I think the servers are quite busy now,  if you have iTunes, manually backup to that so at least you're covered.  Wait a day of two then try backing up to iCloud again.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have a manual backup via iTunes to my iMac which I do when I remember typically weekly but I use the iPad infrequently and leave it plugged in and in another room. It would be nice to have the automatic iCloud backup working.

This his issue has been ongoing for four weeks now (accosting the backup error message).

I Backed up my iPad Air 2 today with I loud and it did take quite a bit longer than usual. It took about 30 minutes and it never took that long in the past. I bought the additional 20GB of iCloud storage a while back and it was upgraded to 50GB at no additional charge with the update to iOS 9. I wonder if all of this is related. Maybe more people are using iCloud now since they got more storage???
