Aug 1, 2015 5:56 PM in response to Duke748by EdanC,Hi, I've uninstalled the current graphics driver through Device Manager and followed the instructions above yet I'm getting a message stating 'The best driver software for your device is already installed - Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date (Generic PnP monitor)'
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

Aug 1, 2015 6:04 PM in response to EdanCby moose_calgary,It certainly appears as though you are. Firstly it looks from what you have said that you are trying to update the driver for your monitor and not the display adapter (which, prior to your updating should be called 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter', or something like that). Secondly, when you update the driver you have to expand the display adapter list, right click the one that is showing and select 'properties'. Go to the 'driver' tab and update the driver from there. If you simply right click and select 'Update driver' from that menu it will tell you that you already have the most suitable driver installed. I just pointed the file browser at the C:/ATI folder and told it to look in subfolders.
Worked great from there

Aug 1, 2015 6:22 PM in response to moose_calgaryby EdanC,Hi Moose_Calgary, thank you very much for your response.
I went over my installation method and there had been some minor issues with my device manager.
Previously, when I had uninstalled my R9 295X display adapter, it had completely got rid of that drop down menu (no display adapter section) so I wasn't able to install any display adapter, or view any pre-existing ones. I re-installed Catalyst Manager which then brought back the display adapter secion, showing AMD RADEON R9 295X driver. I then followed your instructions and then picked from a list of device drivers on my computer, which showed 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter'. Continuing on, I did as you said and It worked! Currently it's stating it's a AMD Radeon r9 200 Series, driver version 14.502 (Previously 14.301). Is yours similar?
I'm hoping the updated Bootcamp Assistant would include the 15.20... driver version.
Thanks again.

Aug 1, 2015 6:27 PM in response to EdanCby moose_calgary,I cannot speak for the version number as I am not by that computer right now, but I do recall it saying Radeon r9 200 Series. So long as there is no yellow exclamation mark then the driver should be sitting comfortably.
All I know is that as soon as I installed the driver my second monitor setup woke up from sleep and started working.
If I were you, I would not wait for Apple to release an updated driver any time soon. It took them eons to update to Windows 8.1
Glad we could both help you
Moose

Sep 19, 2015 4:24 PM in response to alexm4d1by camberry1,Ridiculous that this is still a problem.
I also have a 5k iMac with the 295X and have this issue. Assuming that it was the same, I have not tried windows 8.
Can anyone confirm that it has this issue as well?

Sep 19, 2015 5:55 PM in response to camberry1by alexm4d1,I agree with you camberry1, this day I tried with Windows 8 and same problem!. Then I installed again Windows 10 with bootcamp and same problem there!.
I do not understand what is happening, because some people says that they have the drivers working fine on Windows 10 and 8, and others (like us) still have the issue.
I tried a lot of possible solutions to solve the problem without good news. If someone have the right drivers will be great to upload the drivers in some server to share here with us to download and test.
Waiting for a solution....

Sep 21, 2015 2:00 PM in response to alexm4d1by camberry1,So... This fix DOES work IF you find the 15.6beta drivers.
Steps:
- Download the 15.6beta drivers ( http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/GRAPHICS-BOARD/AMD/AMD-Catalyst-Graphics-Driver -156-Beta-for-Windows-81-64-bit.shtml)
- try to install them. IT will not work, but it will expand the files into the C:\ directory.
- Open the Device manager (right-click on the start button and select it
- Select the Display adapter drop arrow.
- Not sure you have to,but I downgraded the busted adapter (m295x with a yellow sign on it) to the Microsoft Basic Adapter.
- right-click on the adapter
- select update driver software
- Select browse my computer
- select let me pick from a list
- select MS basic display adapter at the bottom
- select the display adapter again and right click and select update driver
- Select browse my computer
- select let me pick from a list
- at the search for drivers area click browse and point the folder at the folder were the beta driver has been extracted
- you could probably just copy and paste this (below) into the field and it will work
- C:\AMD\AMD-Catalyst-15.6-Beta-Software-Suite-Win8.1-64Bit-June22
- make sure the "include subfolders" is checked
- you could probably just copy and paste this (below) into the field and it will work
- Click next and it should pick it up.
- your done!
Really dumb that this is what I need to do, install drivers released in June, but until someone steps up this is the only way I can see it working for now.

Sep 21, 2015 7:14 PM in response to camberry1by alexfromcuenca,Wow camberry, thank you very much for your time to explain a great step by step guide to solve the problem, but sadly it's not working for me with an AMD R9 M290 video card. Your video card is 295x.
Here I posted a new discussion about this problem with more details:
AMD RADEON R9 M290 (not 295, 295x or 290x) driver problem on windows 10
If you want, please check the above discussion.
