Q: IOS 9 Cellular Data Usage Restrictions not working

Hello, I just updated several devices to IOS 9 and I noticed the Cellular Data Usage Restrictions are turned on. However, when I check the Cellular settings I am able to make changes under User Cellular Data for section. This is the same behavior with all upgraded devices I have. Is this a known issue?

 

Thanks for your help with cap data plan having this feature working is critical for my family plan and devices.

    I'm having the same issue. I tried a hardwired restore via iTunes. The issue persists.

     

    For clarification: my/our issue is with the cellular data app toggle switches. For example, when a user turns a switch "on" from an "off" position, the setting is not respected by the system. The switch will appear to change to "on", but if you try to use the affected app, it won't permit cellular data to go through. Then, if you go back and check the cellular data app switches in the Settings app, you can see that the switch has reverted back to its previous position, in this case "off".

    I've filed a bug report feedback form about this issue, and included a link to this discussion post.

     

    Can everybody please click "This helped me" on my post above? This will eventually cause the post to show up on the first page of this discussion thread for when the Apple engineers read it - so they can get a clear understanding of the issue. The sooner we can effectively communicate the issue to them, the sooner we can get a fix.

    Your description below is the PERFECT description for what is happening. Having the same problem and have an open case with AppleCare with no resolution to yet.  Thank you.

    Using an Apple MD367LL/A - The New iPad (3rd Gen) With Wi-Fi + 4G (AT&T) - 32GB - Black

    
 

    After upgrading to OS 9 my apps won't connect to cellular data after turning them "on" in Settings > Cellular Data > Use Cellular Data For:

     

    When I toggle them on and then come back they are "off" again... what gives?

     

    I tried turning Cellular Data on and off... nothing

    I tried turning Airplane Mode on for a couple of minutes then off again... nothing.

    I tried hard resetting the iPad... nothing

     

    Anybody have an idea or two?

     

     

    Later in the day I connected with Apple support...

     

     

    After an hour of Apple techs trying to diagnose the issue they were stumped. I ended up doing a complete wipe and reinstall which fixed the issue. Apple support was excellent in staying (online chat, no charge) with me until my issue was resolved. I felt like this was a big enough issue that it should have been identified in the quality control process before launch. I'm definitely waiting a couple of months before upgrading our other Apple devices. Waiting for 9.1 is probably the way to go.

    Apparently the issue persists on 9.1 so far. Haven't tested it myself.

    @Tsepull where you able to restore from backup or had to a clean install? I did wipe the device and restore from backup but the problems did not go away.....

    I did not restore. I was afraid the problem would be reintroduced like you experienced. I did selectively import apps from ITunes. I decided that starting with a clean slate was my best option. Sure it's a pain but sometimes I use these instances as a chance to clean up my device and start anew. Make lemonade out of lemons So to speak.

    I didn't know that Apple released 9.1 to the general public. Jspence444, are talking about 9.1 beta?

    Yes, I don't mess around in beta. I can barely stand cutting edge let alone bleeding edge. Hopefully Apple will incorporate this fix in the public release of 9.1. I'll probably confirm this with Apple before upgrading any other devices.
