Q: I dont wish to use the Archive facility - so how can I disable or delete it please

I seem to have 40,000 + items in the Archive.

 

None of which I want.

 

How can I remove this mailbox ?

 

and disable it

 

?

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

    If you have Gmail, that is it's "All Mail" label. You were aware that Gmail stores every email you send or receive? Mail just now shows you what Google has been up to.

    You can disable showing the All Mail label in Mail by going to  the Gmail web portal, Settings, Labels and disable Show in IMAP for All Mail. It wan't stop google from keeping all of your emails, even the ones you deleted, but you won't see them in Mail anymore.
