    Greetings Bluebell12341399,

Thank you for taking the time to create an Apple Support Communities account and then posting your question here!

First let me say that I know how frustrating it can be when an unexpected issue arises during an update, but I want to assure you that we are here to help and committed to helping you resolve this. :)

You have done a great job troubleshooting already by working through first steps located in this article. I understand that you have already restored from a backup, but you still see the Slide to Upgrade message on your iPhone’s screen.

To continue troubleshooting, it may be necessary to follow the remaining steps from that article and set up your iPhone as a new device once the restore is complete.

If you still see the Slide to Upgrade screen after completing the steps above:

    1. Restore your device. If you don't see your device in iTunes, or your computer won't trust your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until your device restarts and appears in iTunes. When prompted, choose Restore.
    2. After the restore is complete, set up your device as new.

Please reply and let the community know if these steps helped you resolve the situation. Your input is very valuable and we look forward to your continued involvement!

    Cheers!

I think Bluebell12341399 mentioned that the backup is not working....

I have the exact same issue with my IPAD.

The upgrade from ios7 to ios9 is stuck in the slide to upgrade screen.

To create a backup and then restore I did the following steps:

    1. Force reset my IPAD while it is connected to my PC (itune)

    2. Itune did connect to my IPAD and gave me either the options  to Update to ios9 ( which I tried twise with the same result; stcuk at the slide to upgrade screen)  or to restore..

Now I wanted to create abackup before I start the restore. The problem is that the device backup sub menue is disabled...Somehow itune is able to connect to my IPAD BUT IT IS NOT allowing me to do a backup...It is as if it is not trusting my computer...

I Made a restore setting the device as new. Now I have a new empty device, not able to load the content of my I pad. in my backup, there  I have more than hundred technical publications needed for my work. Will I'll be able to access my back up again? Is it acceptable? Please solve the problem as soon as possible. The proses solution by Apple is not a solution.

    Hi Bluebell12341399,

    Thank you for replying! :)

As you discovered, you cannot restore if Find My iPhone is enabled. You can; however, turn off Find My iPhone using your computer which should then allow you to restore your iPhone.

    1. Turn off the device you want to remove.

    2. Go to Find My iPhone on iCloud.com on another computer.

If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.

If you don’t see Find My iPhone on iCloud.com, your account just has access to iCloud web-only features. To gain access to other iCloud features, set up iCloud on your iOS device or Mac.

    3. Click All Devices, select the offline device, then click Remove from Account. If you don’t see Remove from Account, click All Devices again, then click the Delete button  next to the device.

iCloud: Remove your device from Find My iPhone

As always, please continue to give us updates on your situation. We’re glad you are a part of the Apple Support Communities!

    Best!

IS there any way i can return my phone? Since it is not my fault that the update is not working on my phone, i think returning my phone is the only way.
