Q: This works except cannot restore to backup

This works except I cannot restore to backup. If I try, I get stuck on the slide to upgrade error again/

I can only restore to a new phone. This is the only way I can get a working phone.

How can I restore to my backup? Or do I need to wait for the new IOS update? (when?)

iPhone 5s, iOS 9

    Try this:

Do a Restore to a new phone.

When the restore is complete and your phone is working, restore your latest backup.

If the backup's in iTunes, connect the phone and do File, Devices, Restore from Backup

If the backup's in iCloud, go to Settings, iCloud, Backup and restore from there

HI Nick, thanks for your reply. Yep, I have done that. When my phone was working again after restoring it to a new phone, I then restored to my back up. However I still got stuck on the "swipe to upgrade" screen at the end of the restore to backup

Hi Nick, thanks, yep I had seen that. I was just hoping there may be a better and quicker solution someone had discovered that didn't involve waiting for Apple to release the next IOS update.

Good news is i have fixed the issue on my OP!

I installed a Beta version of IOS 9.1, then restored to backup. It worked! No "slide to upgrade" stuck issue.

Signing up for the Beta program is super easy and the software could be installed via wifi without iTunes.

Still needed to turn off Find My iPhone first, but that wasn't a problem because I actually had a working phone thanks to restoring it to a new phone earlier.

    Sneaky.

    But effective.   Glad it worked.
