Q: iOS 9 / iTunes / Outlook Notes sync on Windows

Well thanks Apple - what a cracking job you've made of iOS 9 / iTunes integration with Microsoft Outlook 2010.  I can now no longer sync notes between my iPhone and Outlook.  I have 250+ notes in Outlook and now no way of synchronising them with my iPhone!

I've been using Outlook and my iPhone since iOS 3 on my iPhone 3G and had no problems.  I work in IT and although your support documents still state that I can see my 'new improved' iCloud notes in Outlook using the Outlook add-in it DOES NOT work

Has anyone got this working?

iPhone 5, iOS 9, Windows 7 32bit &iTunes 12.3.0.44

This is incredible.  Does Apple know there are business users that utilize their products, not just hipsters buying music & movies?  This link break elimination and lack of sync capability is ludicrous.

My contract is up in 11 months, if this thing doesn't work with Outlook anymore, I can't work with it.

I'll post on the link above as well.  Hope someone is paying attention.

I have a PC with Outlook 2010, and am running Windows 7. I just installed iOS 9 on my iPhone 4s and initially had no synchronization problems other than my Outlook notes, which did not seem to propagate to my iPhone.

I first followed an earlier recommendation in this forum, sought to restore contacts only using iTunes, and the synchronization wiped out my PC's Outlook 2010 Notes. So I restored from an Outlook backup, then went to the Apple support chat service. Nadya at Apple led me through the settings (settings>notes should show the appropriate email account under "default account for siri" and the "from my PC" should be on) and had me synchronize again.

I now had my Outlook Notes on my iPhone 4s. It looks a bit different than with iOS 8, but everything in my Outlook 2010 is now synchronizing properly.

Are you using a Microsoft Exchange email account with Outlook 2010, an IMAP or POP connection to your mail service (or something else)?  I don't have "from my PC" as an option in the Notes settings, just "On My iPhone".

For some additional troubleshooting, I imbedded a phase in two existing notes in my MS Outlook (one categorised, one uncategorised).

I synced and got the usual Apple message re can’t sync notes.

Result, the changes don’t sync (no change on iPhone), but I have all the extra duplicates in phone.

    For reference, I have:

    • Windows7
    • Outlook 2007
    • iTunes v12.3.0.44
    • iPhone5
    • only sync via cable without iCloud.  I do not use iCloud.
    • use POP3 mail in Outlook; no MS Exchange
    • Notes app is updated to new app

    Also noteworthy...

When I go to Settings>Notes the dialogue button for "from My PC Account" at the bottom is greyed out. I have three lines in my Settings>Notes

Default Account for Siri (where I see my iPhone version of my email account)

New notes start with >> where there's a dialogue box with title, heading, or body as the three choices

"From My PC" Account with a button and an explanation under it that says

Using an "From My PC" account allows you to store notes on this device. Your other notes won't be affected.

I frankly don't know how this got set, but it seems to be what lets the notes synchronize. I cannot change it, so it must get set somewhere else in settings or ??

Are you able to create a new note in Outlook and then successfully sync it to your iOS9 device?  Thanks for your help.

So your sync *IS* working properly using Outlook and iOS 9 and iTunes 12.3 on Windows?  That's mad when everyone else on here cannot get it work and nor can Apple tech support.  Lucky you!

No.  I have zero notes on my iPhone now, and 250+ in Outlook and no way to get them syncing short of using an Exchange server - which is overkill!

Hey Guys, i have read this thread cause of troubleshooting some costumers from AppleCare Support. I have a message for you:

"Notes Syncing between iOS 9 and Outlook is no longer available and Out of Support" - iOS Engineering-Team

-> for this there is the new already known option via iCloud now, the advantages of this function are so comfortable that to keep the old options makes no longer sense for Apple Engineering.

Everybody who can´t go with this decide, please think of the alltime trying of apple to provide the best and user-friendliest comfort..

    HOW TO:

    iCloud: Notes overview

Hope you all understand this situation and remain Apple-Promoters, only together it will work.

    Thank you very much,

The  iCloud: Notes overview link is about as useful as a chocolate tea-pot.  It does NOT help get Outlook working with iCloud notes, even though it says it's possible.  This unannounced feature removal is completely unacceptable and I, for one, will keep plugging away at Apple until they change their minds and re-instate Note syncing.  There's NO technical reasons for this issue; Apple just want everyone with an iPad/iPhone on a Mac and in the iCloud.   Apple are NOT trying to "provide the best and user-friendliest comfort" - they're trying to maximise their revenue by getting Windows users to migrate to Mac OS X. It won't be happening in my business, the Windows platform is vastly superior to the Mac one for almost all serious computer uses.

I am not and have not been an Apple-promoter.  I use the tool best suited to the job, the iPhone was the best phone for my needs when I chose it, my HP laptop and Windows 7 were the best work PC at the time too.  If the iOS integration with Windows/Outlook continues to degrade then I will be looking elsewhere for my next phone.

Even though the 'Notes' selection check box is no longer in iTunes under the 'Bookmarks' selection box, as long as you don't do the 'upgrade' in IOS 9 to 'Upgraded Notes', iTunes notes sync works as it did in the past. You will see the step occur to sync notes during the sync process in iTunes.  My Outlook (2013) notes are still being synced in both directions, i.e. Outlook to device and device to Outlook.  I have done multiple tests to confirm this by changing a note in Outlook and seeing the change transferred and changing a note on my IOS devices and seeing the change transferred to Outlook.

    I am running Windows 10 64 bit, IOS 9, iTunes 12.3.0.44, Office Pro 2013.
