It too a long time, you need to be patient.

I attempted many times last night, including overnight (that's 8 hours)!  How long can it take?

ive been having the same problems. It's been verifying and then giving me message that the download failed as it was not enough space. I have 4.6GB available. Have removed most of apps and its verfifying forever.  I use Apple Pay, if the passcode is removed all your stored credit cards are gone too...

its it's a terrible customer journey from Apple.

As I said in an earlier post on to this thread, if you're stuck on verifying. try turning off the iWatch passcode with the iPhone iWatch app, then navigate back to the software up date and restart the install. After the installation is complete you can turn the iWatch passcode back on.

I finally decided to try re-booting my iPhone. The first time it came back up, the Watch app said it was not connected to the Internet. Then I re-booted my iPhone again and tried both e-mail and Safari to verify that it was connected. Then, when I tried the Watch app again, it went right to Verifying and within a minute, switched to Preparing. About 3 minutes later, the watch shows the circular pattern that indicated the update was being installed.

I had same problem.  Last effort:

I turned off Apple Watch while iPhone still said 'verifying'

Rebooted iPhone with soft reboot, (hold home and top bottom down until Apple logo appears)

    Turned on Apple Watch

    reinstalled software update.

    Finally worked

Same problem here. The solution that worked for me, was to power down both the Watch and the iPhone. It was in the middle of Verifying when I did this, and there were no issues.

Powered both back on, started the process again and it got past the Verification process very quickly. It does however take a long time for the update to complete. You'll see a wide circle on the watch with the tick marks along the edge filling in as it completes the process. Be patient. When you get to the ticks, you're almost there!

I Did try just being patient, but after about 10 hour, I got an error message. Update did not load on watch.
