Q: Impossible to configure calendar from WAN

Hi there!

OS X 10.10.5 Server aka Yosemite

Clients are 10.10.x and iOS 8.x

Clients work fine in LAN and WLAN.

But it is impossible to configure Clients from WAN. The Firewall lets pass Port 8443.

What I tried and works:

Installing calendar on a client with the following:

https: // public_IP:8443 / principals/__uids__/UUID_from_Client_User

User: Name_of_User

Password: Password_of_User

Unfortunately this way is too complicated for customers to do.

I dare that in the first initializing process calendar server uses also other ports than 8443.

Check TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products - Apple Support
Search for "calendar" within

Hi Luis,
thanks, I know about this document. I tried both: 443 and 8443 (strange somwhere else I have seen port 8443, but this isn't mentioned in this document). Not SSL-Ports we mustn't use. PushNotification (Port 5223) shouldn't be relevant - what I may try is Port 11211 - which it is unclear what it does…

Briefly, I will try again Port 443, 8443, 5223 and 11211

Hi Peter,

to be shure you could check your Firewall logs (maybe something like temporarily add external object with source ip, allow any, log any) or tcpdump on the client machine with a filter on your target host. As far as i remember 8443 is used since it collided with a unifi installation i have that is also using 8443

The only port a calendar client needs to talk to on the server is 443. OS X Server also listens on 8443 for calendar requests for legacy purposes.
