Q: MainStage 3.2 hangs at "Loading Plugins"

I had "automatic updates" turned on (no longer, I've since changed that).  With automatic updates turned on, MainStage 3.2 got installed.  At first I was able to load my concert file, at least the very first time.  I opened the concert file, made a few small changes (normal kinds of things), and then I saved the concert and closed MainStage 3.2.  This is where the trouble began.  The next time I tried to load the concert, MainStage 3.2 hangs indefinitely at "Loading Plugins".  I let it sit for about 20 minutes, it never loaded the concert.  I am able to load smaller concerts, but the one I use most of the time is large, and I can't load that concert now with version 3.2.  I've used MainStage 3.1.1 for quite some time with no issues.  I have an iMac with 2 internal drives, a 250GB SSD (the Mac OS 10.9.5 and all my apps live there), and a 1TB hard drive with all my audio samples.  I have 110GB free space on my SSD, and 725GB free on my hard drive.  I have 16GB of RAM on this machine.  So as you can tell, it's a well built machine.  I've used it for 3 years now with no major issues with MainStage.  However, now with version 3.2, I can't load my main concert file, it just hangs at "Loading Plugins".  With this problem, I've restored from a backup, going back to version 3.1.1.  After my restore to 3.1.1, now everything works great.  Has anyone else had problems with loading concerts using 3.2?

I experienced the same problem this evening.  Strange issue in that although I took the update on Aug 27, I haven't had a problem until tonight.  I generally play in a band twice a week and that gives me multiple uses of version 3.2 of the program without issues.  Nothing had changed in my gear or software since I last used it early Sunday (2 days ago).

Tonight, no matter which of my concerts I loaded, the software locked up with the dialog box "Loading Plugins" displayed.  I will note that my sample libraries are on an external Thunderbolt SDD , but I think this is irrelevant.

Mysteriously I totally shut down the machine and re-powered, allowed it to boot and without running any other programs, went back and ran Mainstage.  It did scan my plugins (25 of them and I'm not sure why because I haven't installed anything) then got the "Loading Plugins" dialog box.  However this time the box cleared after a few seconds and my concert appeared.

Not sure but you may want to try the old standby of simply rebooting.  Worked in my case.

Hello everyone.  Apple recently released MainStage 3.2.1, claiming to resolve the issues described in this discussion/post.  I haven't had a chance to test 3.2.1, but if anyone has installed 3.2.1, and if it resolves your issue, would you please reply to this thread?

I installed 3.2.1 and had no problems with plug ins, but lost all the "Send" slots to access the buses.  I deleted the MainStage personal settings as explained below, did a cold restart and everything was fine.  Apparently, version 3.2.1 needs to rebuild the settings file sometimes.

To reset your MainStage 3 user preference settings to their original state:

    1. Quit MainStage 3 if it's open.
    2. In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
    3. Type: ~/Library/Preferences
    4. Click the Go button.
    5. Remove the com.apple.mainstage3.plist file from the Preferences folder.
    6. Restart the computer.

update to 3.2.1 doesn't work.   Problem with Playback screens, it loose Midi externals instruments (I have to disconnect and reconnect to find time again), ProgramChanges not sended on Patch change (MS), screen problem with LSB / MSB section.   I returned to 3.1.1 but some Concerts have problems now  (after the update and downdate)

Actually, I had no problems with corrupted concerts UNTIL I updated to MainStage 3.2.1. Now, while all of my old concerts still open properly, the concert I was working on under version 3.2.1 will no longer open. As others have described, it appears to hang up during the "loading plug-ins" stage. I've tried trashing the Preference file, restarting the computer, reloading MainStage (3.2.1), disabling relevant plug-ins, and using other accounts. None of it solves the problem of the one corrupted concert.
