Sep 23, 2015 7:11 AM in response to jrez007by farragut,Correct me if I'm wrong, but, from my experience, I don't think a sync will restore the data that is contained in a backup (such as game data). A sync will only sync music, apps, books, etc that are in iTunes. So, the only way I know of to get all that other data is by restoring from a backup from itunes or icloud.

Sep 23, 2015 7:31 AM in response to farragutby jrez007,That's probably right. Although I'm not 100% sure of that. Try a restore from backup and see if the problem persists.

Sep 23, 2015 9:10 AM in response to jrez007by Muhlyssa,I've had the same issue but was able to backup once since ios( upgrade. Iphone not backing up, iPad is fine.
I tried to delete the old icloud backup but it told me I was unable to.
Tried the solution some have recommended of turning off all of the apps and then doing the backup. That seemed to help.
Unable to isolate which app was causing the issue.
That's the next task.

Sep 23, 2015 10:36 AM in response to ralexander22by ralexander22,I just noticed that a new update is available ios 9.0.1. It doesn't list the back up problem in the list of fixes though. I'm not real sure I want to update as quickly as I did the move to ios 9.

Sep 23, 2015 11:54 AM in response to leJuan5150by saeed.ayman,★HelpfulIt's fixed!!
Found this solution after some digging in the internet.
First of all, I couldn't even delete my old iCloud backup.
Follow these steps:
1- Go to Settings-->iCloud-->Storage-->Manage Storage-->Select your device that you are having problems backing up.
2- Wait for the spinning wheel to finish (loading icon beside backup options). THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT (for some reason!).
3- Scroll down and click "Show all apps" (it's stupid, but trust me this is the only way I could do it)
4- Scroll all the way down, and click "Delete Backup" and then confirm deleting. If you got an error message saying that "the backup can't be deleted, try again later" that means you didn't wait enough. Let it finish loading.
5- After Deleting the backup successfully, go back to the main iCloud settings page, and go to Backup. If iCloud Backup is still On, turn it off then On again. If it was off already, just turn it on.
6- Go to the same page in step 1 again, and make sure that photos are off (if you want them off), otherwise just make sure that all the options are ok as you want them.
7- Go back to the Backup page and click "Back up Now".
It took me about 5 hours to get it done, but it now works fine.
Note: If after step 7 you got the same error message that it wasn't completed, just press "Back up Now" again, it should continue and finish. I got it to work from the second trial.

Sep 23, 2015 12:19 PM in response to saeed.aymanby HarveyfromNJ,Sadly iOS 9.0.1 is not a solution.
I followed these instructions and was able to peform 1 backup after deleting backup as noted.
it took 4 hours to perform the backup. I was unable to perform any more backups.
I Upgraded to iOS 9.0.1 with the hope for a fix.
HOWEVER I still cannot perform any more wifi iCloud backups. Getting same error message. Unable to complete backup.
I'm currently backing up via iTunes to a iMac.
Apple really needs to fix this bug ASAP.

Sep 23, 2015 12:34 PM in response to saeed.aymanby Muhlyssa,Thanks so much for this. It worked for me. I was trying to delete the old backup but it kept telling me I couldn't. So your tip "Wait for the spinning wheel to finish "was really helpful.

Sep 23, 2015 2:21 PM in response to saeed.aymanby CJGonzo,This worked. Much thanks!! One point, however, remember to shut off auto lock if you use it, or keep touching your screen when it dims.

Sep 23, 2015 2:34 PM in response to saeed.aymanby ralexander22,I found this a day or so ago and tried it. It allowed me to do one manual back up and that was all. My phone still won't back up automatically as it should.
