Q: iOS 9 / iTunes / Outlook Notes sync on Windows

Well thanks Apple - what a cracking job you've made of iOS 9 / iTunes integration with Microsoft Outlook 2010.  I can now no longer sync notes between my iPhone and Outlook.  I have 250+ notes in Outlook and now no way of synchronising them with my iPhone!

I've been using Outlook and my iPhone since iOS 3 on my iPhone 3G and had no problems.  I work in IT and although your support documents still state that I can see my 'new improved' iCloud notes in Outlook using the Outlook add-in it DOES NOT work

Has anyone got this working?

iPhone 5, iOS 9, Windows 7 32bit &iTunes 12.3.0.44

THat sounds a lot a lot more complicated.  Might work though.  My steps worked flawless.

If you are syncing after you moved the notes the first time, then you won't see anything about notes being synced.

Had you chosen to update the Notes app on your iPhone to the new richer iCloud format or not?  I did, after my Notes sync stopped working to try to fix it, and now iTunes doesn't even seem to try to sync Notes whereas before it was trying but coming up with an error every time.

I 100% agree with all your postings above.

I likewise have confidential information on my phone/computers, so do not and will never use any cloud service for storage/sync.  I own and run a company so my computer/laptops are working tools (thus I use PCs with MS Windows).  I own Apple iPhones/iPads, but honestly regard them as toys not tools.   As I use my phone for multiple purposes, this is OK, but is often limiting - like the many times in a meeting, where I quickly need to search something on my phone for the discussion; only to reply to my meeting guests that I will "have to come back to you after getting back to my main PC" as the search function on iPhones/iPaps is quite poor.

This Notes sync problem must be resolved, otherwise it's one greatest promotions for Android that Apple has ever run.

What are the best avenues to contact Apple to complain?  My iPhone/iPad is out of warranty, so there is a cost for either a call/chat with Apple.

I don't see how it can be a promotion for Android. I used a Note 3 for a year and I thought it's integration with Outlook was utterly disastrous; it certainly was in my case. I ended up buying an app so I had the ability to sync my notes and then it only did it manually. This feature in iTunes was one of the main reasons I reverted back to an iPhone. Even though Microsoft and Apple are rivals, iTunes ability to sync with Outlook so effectively has always been something I have relied upon and been extremely grateful for.

You are upgrading to a new operating system and are encountering problems. So the Apple Chat service will grant you an exception to charging for their service.

Has the issue resurfaced this morning for you?

I tried your steps and syncing worked multiple times for the remainder of the day. This morning, the message popped up again. I didn't modify or create any notes in the app.

** ITUNES/ IPHONE SYNC ISSUE WITH OUTLOOK NOTES AFTER IOS9 UPDATE (SOLVED) **

I lost a lot of sleep trying all types of recommendations on the web and on this forum with no results!

THE STEPS BELOW WORKED FOR ME:

    1.  Close outlook and create a new PST in Mail 32 bit from the control panel.

    2.  Open oulook and transfer your notes from your default notes you to the (new) PST notes.

    3.  Sync your iPhone to iTunes, ensure all notes on your iPhone has been deleted.

    4.  Power down and restart your iPhone.

    5.  Move your notes from the (new) PST notes back to your default notes in outlook.

    6.  Sync iPhone via ITunes and presto you're back in business.

    7.  Do a couple of checks by adding and deleting notes from both OS and resyncing to ensure stability.

    8.  Thank me later.  Yours truly, an Average Joe.

Didn't work for me I am afraid. Didn't remove the notes at step 3. There doesn't appear to be any linkage between iTunes and Outlook Notes whatsoever any more (just Calendar and Contacts).

Sorry to hear that and I understand your frustration.

Try to delete the notes from your iPhone while your notes are still in the temporary PST.  Then proceed from there.  Please let me know if it works or not.

Is this the correct screen for step 1, "Close outlook and create a new PST in Mail 32 bit from the control panel."?

Maybe I'll give this procedure a try when I get home.

But instead of creating a new PST, couldn't you really just export notes to a .csv file, delete the originals, then re-import the .csv?
